Tech Talkers Toastmasters Club

slogan

Club President, Eugene Mauro

who?

The Tech Talkers Toastmasters Club was founded in 2007 as a corporate club at a Raytheon facility in Alexandria, VA.  The club has since opened to the public on a limited basis.

The diverse membership of the Tech Talkers club provides an excellent forum for speaking skill development.

During meetings, our members present and evaluate speeches in a positive, professional setting.   Leadership roles and impromptu speaking opportunities are also offered during each meeting.  You are welcome to visit a TechTalkers meeting and see what the club has to offer!

We are a local chapter of Toastmasters International.

what?Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization which gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking abilities through local club meetings, training seminars and speech contests. Toastmasters International includes more than 250,000 men and women in more than 12,500 clubs in more than 100 countries.

why?In today’s competitive market place, everyone wants

a competitive advantage.  Toastmasters International provides the leadership training, public speaking education, and networking opportunities which will give you the edge in the job market.

According to researchers at Stanford University, a person’s business success is only 20 percent attributable to his or her technical competencies; the other 80 percent is a result of personal competencies, which include communications skills.

Busy professionals have many goals, but a limited amount of time.  The TechTalkers Toastmasters club will help you become the speaker and leader you want to be with your investment of just a few hours each month.  The time management skills, honed during club meetings, enable you to accomplish your goals quickly and achieve your dreams.

Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Tech Talkers can help you communicate more effectively. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators.

how?At Tech Talkers, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment.

A typical Toastmasters club, Tech Talkers is a group of 20-plus people who meet for one hour, twice per month. Each meeting provides an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.

Reach beyond the club with Tech Talkers.  Club members from Tech Talkers have advanced beyond Area-Level competions to compete at the Division-Level.  Care to reach farther still?  See Tech Talkers on TV Mastering Business Communications.

When people attend seminars, they quickly forget what they’ve learned; when they regularly attend a Toastmasters meeting, the skills they learn stay with them for a lifetime.  Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of an audience. Our international network and our learn-by-doing program are sure to help you become a better speaker and leader.
